Samuel Ruiz

Biografía

Nace en Argentina en la provincia de Buenos Aires en “San José de los lobos” en el año 1957. Años después se daría cuenta que la obsesión y gusto por incluir caballos en su obra no es ajeno y forma parte de los arraigos de este pueblo, amante de los caballos. El choque cultural al trasladarse a Colombia en 1966 profundizó su necesidad de pintar y dibujar, esto lo llevó a estudiar en varios institutos de arte en la ciudad de Pereira.

“ (…)The rich iconography as well as the spatial construction in Samuel Ruiz’s painting, translate in a punctual way the ascent of the look from the sensorial dimension to the idea. They impel us to penetrate deeply with our gaze in an area where seeing and knowing converge to find that “something” that we no longer see with our eyes but that we intuit in the image”.
